Yoga shorts and leggings offer different amounts of coverage and fabric. The better choice depends on the class, weather, movement, and the fit you prefer.
When shorts may suit the plan
Shorts leave more of the legs uncovered. That may feel preferable in a warm room or during a session where you want less fabric. Check the length, waistband, leg openings, lining, and coverage when you bend or sit. A shorter garment is not automatically more breathable or easier to move in.
When leggings may suit the plan
Leggings offer more coverage and may be useful in a cooler room, during travel, or when you prefer a longer line. Check the rise, waistband, seams, fabric, and care instructions. A close fit does not automatically provide support or stability, and a longer leg does not guarantee control during a pose.
Use a movement check
Walk, fold forward, rotate, sit, and reach. Notice whether the garment rolls, pulls, shifts, or needs constant adjustment. Compare the exact measurements with the way you expect to wear it. If a venue has a dress requirement, follow that rule first.
Colour, length, and styling are personal choices. Do not turn them into promises about body shape, confidence, or exercise results. Check the product page for fibre composition, lining, pockets, availability, return terms, and any documented feature claims.
There is no universal winner. Choose the garment whose coverage and construction fit the day, then follow the care label.
