Colour and design may catch your attention first, but the size should be checked against the exact product information. A letter such as S, M, or L does not have one universal measurement across brands or garment types.
Start with the product size chart
Use the measurements requested by the product page, such as bust, waist, hips, inseam, or garment length. Compare them with the chart for that item rather than relying on a general international table. A fitted top, a pair of leggings, and a relaxed layer may use different points of measurement.
If a matching set does not fit the top and bottom in the same size, check whether the pieces are sold separately. That can be more useful than choosing one size for the whole set.
Check the intended fit
A close-fitting garment should stay in place without making movement uncomfortable. A relaxed garment needs enough room for the positions and layers you expect to wear. Walk, bend, sit, and reach where possible. Notice whether the waistband rolls, the straps need constant adjustment, or the fabric pulls across the body.
Do not use body labels as a shortcut
Descriptions such as petite, tall, pear, or full bust may help a shopper search, but they cannot replace measurements. Two people with the same height or a similar body description may prefer different rises, lengths, coverage, or ease. Use the garment details and your own fit preference.
Read the fabric and care information
Stretch depends on the fibre blend, construction, and cut. Check the composition and care instructions for the exact item. Do not assume that a close fit will provide support, that a high rise will feel comfortable for everyone, or that a fabric has moisture or environmental benefits unless the product record states them.
Finally, read the return and exchange terms before ordering. If the measurements or product details are incomplete, ask for clarification or choose an item with clearer information. A reliable size decision comes from the garment record and the way you plan to wear it, not from a fixed rule or a promise about how the body will look.
